I cracked up at the "can at least tolerate" line -- that's all of our families, right?
I am fortunate that most of my family lives in this area. The furthest any of my cousins travel to come in for Christmas is about 2 hours. That also means that, while I get to spend the holidays with the ones I love, I get to leave and go back to my apartment while I still have that warm, fuzzy feeling and before I just want to rip my hair out!
That said, I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, a lovely New Year, and a happy [insert holiday here]!
I've been accused of being a Scrooge this year because I didn't put my tree up (and I usually have it up, decorated, and all my gifts wrapped neatly in matching paper underneath by December 1st). It just didn't quite happen this year. I did set out my Nativity Scene, which I have told all my detractors is all the decoration I need (who is going to argue that point?), and when I came home last night to a mountain of Amazon packages, I wrapped gifts to my heart's content.
I do so enjoy gift-giving. I wish I had a million dollars so I could give everyone all the things that they want. I have to settle on a much smaller budget, though. And let's be real -- of course I enjoy gift-getting as well! Here's hoping you all get exactly what you want this year. And enjoy some time off work for relaxation!
