You know, in this digital age, new songs are always at our fingertips. I routinely buy Amazon's deal of the day, or listen to a random song online through the recommendation of a friend. I have more new music on my iPod than I can even keep up with or listen to, which is in such stark contrast to years gone by when I'd get maybe one new album every few months and have every song memorized within a few days, because it was all I listened to for weeks or maybe even months on end.
I say all that to note the marked difference between how I treat almost all other music vs. Levi's song-of-the-month. When I get a new Levi Weaver song, everything else stops and I can listen to that song on repeat at various intervals throughout the day. No song gets overlooked because every single one is amazing, and it sets Levi apart from everything else in my 120 G iTunes library.
"Drink (Drink, Drink)" is beautiful and haunting and painfully honest. Levi -- you are brave and honorable for being willing to lay it all bare for the world to see (hear). I will always be convinced that songs change lives, and you will never be able to measure the full impact of your work, but I hope you will continue to be encouraged by one person at a time. Many of your songs have already been life preservers to me over these last few years, and those emotions will no doubt be revisited many times in the years to come. I hope one day the whole world can benefit from what you have to offer, but until they do, the rest of us are sure lucky to have you.
