To date, my Levi “concert” experience has consisted of Levi (and Heather) driving from Nashville to NYC to
play 3 songs at Banjo Jim’s…..(3 friggin songs!!) Next was an ill fated gig at an Irish Pub in which most people
would rather talk than listen. (for which I take full responsibility) So last night, as they say.. the 3rd time is the charm.

It got off to a rocky start.

Seriously, so easy, even Lincoln could do it…

(You know I had to bust your chops on that one.. lol)

The Livingroom is a venue that holds about 100-130 in NYC where people pay a cover charge to . get this.... LISTEN TO and actually APPRECIATE MUSIC. What a concept! Last night.. the place was packed, the audience was attentive and responsive. (great energy)

So, we have all heard the new songs from Godel being developed.. and final production on a few of them… TORNADOES and I AM CERTAIN I AM A TRAIN are my 2 favorites (so far) but I was worried how he would pull them off LIVE. Could they be as good as what Ihave already heard?

Levi opened with TORNADOES, and all I could to is sit back and say WOW. The combination of the music filling the venue and just how engaged the audience was, it was just fantastic. He looked a bit nervous when he started, but that slowy dissipated as he got into his groove... TRAIN was equally awesome.. and I could not help but think about main stream music, and how “lucky” you are if you can get 2 good songs out of a CD. (the rest is usually just “fill”) Godel is going to be something special…..

This was my first time hearing THANKS BUT NO THANKS. Every one ate it up, There were big laughs and smiles during the whole song. Of course WHICH DRINK was amazing as usual... and I'll never get tired of listening to DEL CIELO.

Kate Havnevik is a sweetheart. Loved her unique style and I actually recognized a couple of the songs from Grey’s Anatomy. It was great seeing Levi up there, playing all kinds of back up from guitar to “percussion”….on his guitar…. Her Base player and beat-boxer back up were amazing. Lots of fun and energy.

I can finally say that I’ve seen Levi at his BEST.

Levi, THANKS for a great evening. I’m so darn proud of you.

  2. awwww. there was a beatboxer? I didn't get to see any beatboxing. Sad face.
But yay! I'm glad the show went so well and that you finally got the full experience of Leviness. haha.

  3. This is awesome, Bill! Thank you for posting it! (I now must hang my head in shame as I've yet to post about Wednesday's show.)

I am glad the New York show went so well -- a nice shot in the arm for Levi! Plus, since it was in New York, I hold out hope that there were people there in the audience with good connections and pull in the music industry (as it were) who can make some good things happen for Levi and his music.

So glad you got to hear a great show, Bill! Although, I must say that some of my favorite shows I've seen Levi do were the ones that would probably make his "bad" list! As I told your friend Reba on Wednesday, I've never seen Levi play a bad show.

Levi is his own worst critic...to a fault!!!

I know what you mean about favorite shows... Banjo Jim's was
one of those "unfortuate" venues, with an unfortuante moment that ended
up being just fantastic. Levi could not find his harmonica and decided to try
to substitute a kazoo.... in You Are Home... The faces he was making
during the solo part and the comments he made after, had everyone in
    histarics.... A very special moment.

For me, this New York show was special because it was the first time that
I got to see Levi actually having fun during the show, and beaming after the
show. It was great to see him so darn happy and satisfied with what he put
    out there.
