  2. hey. sorry, I had to work today so i didn't get to post anything last night. okay. so on to the show.

I was originally supposed to be attending the show with three friends. Melissa, Jade and Olivia. right before time for the show I learned that Melissa had a test to study for and wasn't going to attend even though she had already bought a ticket. Then I called Jade and Olivia and they were sick and had church so neither of them were going to go as well. Given the fact that I had already asked Levi to put me on the guest list(because i'm broke and I paid for the privilege with my subscription) and I hadn't missed a Levi show in years. I decided to go alone since all my other friends were to broke to go as well. I drove in the rain to the show only to discover when I got there that next to my name was a +1 so I could have brought someone. oh well. Oh and once I got to the show I found Jordan S. and had a person to hang out with so it was much better.

The opening band was good but a little on the boring side. It was mainly due to a lack of interaction with the audience. I really liked her voice but she didn't even talk to the audience until after the 4th song, and live shows need something to make them intriguing. I will admit that the audience was all sitting down in chairs away from the stage so maybe that had something to do with it? I'm not sure.

So. This was the first night of the Levi/Kate tour and it was actually their first night to meet in person, so that was an interesting dynamic. Rather than Levi doing a set and then Kate, they took turns. Each coming out and doing 3 songs and then switching and letting the other one play. Levi hadn't made a set list so he was asking for requests. I kept my mouth shut and didn't request I Hate Your Life to avoid a punch in the face. haha. However some of the crowd were not so worried and immediately requested Love is a War and No Tomorrow to which Levi replied that he would kick them in the head and that he couldn't play those songs because he didn't remember how to play them. haha.

He started the night with We're Tornadoes When We Dance and played a few of the other new songs as well. Idiotque, Family Feud and Which Drink were among the songs requested. As always Levi's stories were hilarious and his extra lyrics to Sick and Determined made me laugh out loud. He ended the night with I'm Certain I'm a Train and Kate improvised with him on guitar and vocals. She did pretty well considering she hadn't heard the song before. ahaha.

Kate performed some of the songs off her upcoming album as well as a few songs I recognized from Grey's of course. She is absolutely adorable and would tell us everything she was about to do. "I'm going to set down my guitar"*sets down guitar*"now i'm going to play a song on the keyboard"*moves to keyboard* It was cute. She also sang a traditional Norwegian folk song which was absolutely beautiful.

Overall I would say that I had a lot of fun on my first ever solo concert attendance and I can't wait for the annual Christmas Show.

Amanda this is a story for you that doesn't really have to due with the show. It's just a story about Tyler Hilton and Norway. One time at a show Tyler mentioned the fact that he had a thing for foreign exchange students. and How much he has always loved them, so naturally a few girls claimed to be exchange students even though they clearly weren't. Anyway, after the show when Dannell and I were waiting around to get a cd signed we over heard him talking about a foreign exchange student that he loved from Norway. Then he was trying to figure out what people from Norway were called. After a few minutes he still couldn't figure it out and neither could the dumb girls around him. Norways? Norwaians? Norwhales?(yes seriously a suggestions that came out of someones mouth) finally Dannell and I leaned over at the same time and interrupted so that we could tell him they are called Norwegians. I still can't look at him without thinking "uh, excuse me, I believe the word you're looking for is Norwegian." As soon as we said it the lights clicked on in his head. It was extremely funny at the time. not so much when you type it out. haha.

  3. Sounds like you had a great time -- not that I expected anything different!

I'm glad that the first time Kate saw Levi play was there (at home, if you will) where he was completely in his element. I am sure she was duly impressed. I've been listening to some of her stuff so I'm not completely lost when she plays on Wednesday. (I am not a Grey's watcher.)

I am very jealous of this whole Christmas show thing. If it was easier to get to Dallas, I'd probably have done it last year. One of these days, though -- when I get rich!

  4. Oh, and yes -- the Tyler anecdote -- very funny!

When he was here, if you follow him on Twitter, you saw that he said he ate breakfast at "Bob's Green Hut."

Well, I have lived here my whole life and have never heard of any such place. I thought maybe he was speaking in code, to prevent the screaming masses (you know, me and my friends) from descending upon him while he was having bacon and eggs.

What later occurred to me, however, is that he was most likely staying downtown, and that in the Community Market, there is a little hole in the wall called "Barb's Dream Hut."

So, after his show when we were talking, I said, "By the way, 'Bob's Green Hut'? There is no such place. Did you mean 'Barb's Dream Hut'?"

A look of sudden realization crossed his face and he said, "No way! I've got to tell the guys this! Hey! Guys! You know the place we ate this morning?! It's called 'Barb's Dream Hut'!" They all erupted in hysterical laughter and he threw on a deeeeeeep southern accent and imitated saying "Barb's Dream Hut" the way it had been told to him that morning (probably by Barb herself). The awning *is* green, after all, so his guess was probably a pretty good one.

I was also there and I have to agree with everything malicious said. Levi was great and Tornados blew my mind. I hadn't seen him play since the Christmas show in 2007 so I had a blast. My wife also loved it and was amazed by all the looping Levi did. After Which Drink? she turned to me and just said "wow"

It was cool to see Levi and his Mom and Jordan W.

I was one of the ones that yelled out no tomorrow. Couldn't help it. After Levi's second round I caught him at the merch table and asked if requesting Hey New York was too much. It was.

I'm hoping to be at the Christmas show. Malicious, maybe I'll see you there.
